Society structure
The International Society on Loop Quantum Gravity has been registered in the US, state of New York, where it is incorporated as a non-profit organisation. Its functioning is regulated by its 2024 constitution.
Taking into account feedback and input from the community, Bianca Dittrich, J.Fernando Barbero G., Kristina Giesel, Laurent Freidel and Madhavan Varadarajan set out to draft the constitution in a free and open process.
The selection of these researchers reflected the scientific plurality, international nature and cultural diversity of the field. After minor amendments, junior and senior researchers in Loop Quantum Gravity adopted the document in November 2024. The vote was online and it was organized by Christian Fleischhack, Marc Geiller and Jorge Pullin.

The Society is structured to ensure transparent governance and active participation from its members. Its organization reflects a balance between elected leadership and community involvement, with clear roles for decision-making, representation, and collaboration. This framework supports both the scientific mission of the ISQLG and the inclusive, democratic principles on which it is founded.

Wider community
The wider community includes all individuals connected to loop quantum gravity and related fields, beyond formal membership structures. It reflects the open and collaborative nature of the Society, encouraging interaction, feedback, and inclusivity across the global research landscape.
General assembly
The General Assembly is the main representative body of the Society, composed of all its members. It serves as an open forum where ideas are discussed, community input is gathered, and the overall direction of the Society is shaped.
Voting assembly
The Voting Assembly consists of all members with voting rights and is responsible for key decisions in the Society. It elects the Steering Board, approves changes to governing documents, and votes on matters central to the functioning of the ISLQG.
Junior researchers
Junior researchers are an integral part of the Society and play an active role within the Voting Assembly. They contribute to discussions, participate in decisions, and are specifically supported through initiatives aimed at fostering their development within the field.
